About this site
Southeast Frost Dates is a free, independent reference for home gardeners in South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia. It turns NOAA’s official 1991–2020 freeze statistics for 416 weather stations into one readable page per station, and adds a simple planting calendar based on published extension-service timing rules.
What makes it different
- Probabilities, not a single date. Each page shows the 10%, 50% and 90% dates so you can choose how much risk to take.
- Honest station matching. Every page names the actual NOAA station, its coordinates and elevation, and how far it is from the nearest town.
- Sources on every page. Data comes from public-domain NOAA files; the planting rules are cited to Clemson, NC State and University of Wyoming Extension publications.
Limits
Climate normals describe the past 30 years. They are not a forecast. Local conditions (frost pockets, slopes, nearby pavement or water) can shift frost by days or weeks. Always watch the local forecast before planting tender crops, and ask your county extension office for advice about specific varieties.
